  • Lincoln Douglas Debate (1 on 1 debate about topics involving ethical dilemmas and / or balancing competing values in law or policy);
  • Public Speaking;
  • Fundamental Principles of Logic;
  • Critical Thinking (including recognition of unstated assumptions and fallacious arguments);
  • Research Skills; and
  • Oral and Written Communication Skills.

The instructor for the camp and classes will be Glenn Ballard.  Mr. Ballard holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama; a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting from Georgia State University; a Master of Science, Finance from Georgia State University; a Master of Taxation from Georgia State University; and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.  Mr. Ballard first became passionate about the need for formal training in logic when he took an introductory course in logic in college and he thought to himself, "Wow!  Logic should be a required course of study for every middle school student!"

We're so excited to be able to offer an in-person camp this year in the beautiful central Texas area!  This year, we will be offering two camps - one in debate and one in apologetics!

Mon, Jul 17 - Sat, Jul 22:  this in-person Apologetics Camp will be held Mon-Fri, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with an all-day Saturday session to allow students to practice their speaking skills in front of a live audience.

Mon, Jul 31 - Sat, Aug 5:  this in-person Debate Camp will be held Mon-Fri, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with an in-person, all-day tournament held on Saturday, August 5.  All debate camp students will be invited to participate in the final tournament on Aug 5.

These in-person day camps will be held at a convenient location in Bell County (about an hour north of Austin).  Location information will be given upon registration.

The cost of each in-person camp is $400 per student.  Families with multiple siblings attending will receive a discount of 50% for each student after the first one.  (For example, a family with two students enrolled would pay a total cost of $600, and a family with three students enrolled would pay a total cost $800, and so on.)

Full tuition scholarships are available, based on a combination of demonstrated merit and verified financial need (references required).  Call or email for registration details.

Debate Camp is open to all students, ages 11-17, in homeschool, private school or public school - all students are welcome.  Debate Camp is non-partisan (various political biases are critiqued with equal fervor).  The emphasis is on critical thinking, logical argumentation and factual research.

Apologetics Camp is open to all students, ages 11-17, but is especially designed for Christian students, who are interested in growing in their knowledge and ability to understand, defend and promote Biblical doctrine and a Christian worldview.
